  1. Can a Goaltender play with a broken stick?
    No the goaltender cannot play with a broken stick. He must drop the broken portions immediately and either legally obtain a stick from the bench or be legally handed a player's stick until the next whistle.

  2. Player A is checked from behind in such a manner that he hits the goal post head first and was not able to get his hands up to protect himself. SRD
    If the player being checked from behind is thrown violently into the boards or post, and cannot get his/her hands up to protect themselves, MATCH penalty, no question.

  3. Play is stopped in Team A's end zone by the goaltender. After the whistle there is a skirmish and you call three players on Team B for Roughing and two players on Team A for Roughing. Where is the face-off?
    If there are penalties assessed to both teams, whether the outcome is even or not, the face-off takes place where the stoppage of play occurred. In this case, the end zone face-off circle.

  4. Shot from the point misses the net completely, bounces off the end boards and onto the back of the net. The Goaltender panics and covers the puck (still on the mesh) with his glove. Where is the face-off?
    Face-off is in the end zone closest to where the goaltender froze the puck.

  7. If the trainer comes out to tend to the Goalie, does the team have to put the backup in?
    No, so long as there is not an unreasonable delay.

  13. A27 scores a goal. Before the face-off Team B complains that A27's helmet is not certified. SRD
    The goal is allowed and the appropriate penalty is assessed to A27. In this case, a minor penalty for wearing a non-certified helmet or facial protector should be assessed. However, the offending player shall not be permitted to take his place on the penalty bench until he has obtained a certified helmet.

  14. Linesman notices that Team A has Too Many Men, but Team B has the puck. Does the Linesman blow the play down? If not, is there a signal he/she gives to signify the delayed penalty?
    Linesmen are to stop play when more than the correct number of players are on the ice, but must still follow the regular procedure for calling penalties. If the offending team has control of the puck, the Linesman shall stop play immediately; however, if the offending team does not have control, it then becomes a delayed call. In both situations, the Linesman must report the infraction to the Referee upon stoppage of play.

    NOTE: There is NO signal that the Linesman should use in this delayed penalty situation.

  16. In a league where time outs are permitted, Team A requests (and is granted) a time out. When the time out has expired and the teams have returned to the face-off spot, Team B requests a time out. SRD
    NO timeout is permitted. Both teams may take their respective time-outs during the same stoppage of play. However, once a team has called their time-out, the second team must indicate their intentions to take a time-out during the same stoppage of play before the initial 30 seconds are over.

  23. The attacking team (in their attacking zone) high-sticks the puck while on the power play. According to the rules used by YOUR association, where does the face-off take place?
    According to all districts of the CHA, the face-off takes place at the nearest neutral zone face-off spot.

  24. A Team A player behind her blue line shoots the puck. The back Linesman signals a potential icing. A Team B player is within 10 feet of her player's bench, and her substitute comes onto the ice as the puck passes within reach of these two players. Playing the puck would constitute a Bench Minor penalty for too many players. The Team B players make no attempt to play the puck in this situation, with the puck continuing on down over the goal line.
    Is icing called, or is it waved off because the Team B player could have played the puck?

  25. A player hand-passes the puck from the neutral zone to a teammate that has his skates INSIDE his own blue line, but picks the puck up just outside the blue line. SRD
